Seasons and light.
Two monsoons shape a year in Gnaviyani. Iruvai, the north-east monsoon from late November to early April, is the dry season of clear skies and still lagoons; Hulhangu, the south-west monsoon from April to November, brings short showers, dramatic cloud and the best sunsets. Gnaviyani is near the equator, so the sun goes down quickly and the blue hour is short; a ceremony here starts a few minutes earlier than in Malé.
