How to choose an island.

Four things decide the island. The transfer: a speedboat resort is an hour from the airport and takes a late arrival; a seaplane or domestic-flight island needs daylight and a night in Malé for some guests. The villa count: fewer villas means a private feel and one beach; more means several venues and a room for the wet-weather plan. The resort's policy on outside planners, which we confirm within 24 hours. And the season: Iruvai, the dry north-east monsoon, 28 November to 7 April; Hulhangu, the wetter south-west monsoon, 8 April to 27 November. December books first.
